Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Transitway ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the NYC Bus Time App (the "App") on iOS and Android. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
The App is published by Transitway, an independent app developer. You can reach us anytime at transitway.com@gmail.com. The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
2. Information we collect
Location information
If you enable location access, the App uses your device's approximate or precise location to show nearby bus stops and the buses closest to you. Location is processed on your device to deliver these features. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; the App will still work, but nearby-stop features will be limited.
Device and usage information
We and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, general region, and basic diagnostic or crash data. This helps us keep the App stable and fix problems.
Advertising identifiers
The App is free and supported by advertising. Our advertising partners may collect and process a mobile advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID), IP address, and similar device and ad-interaction data to deliver and measure ads. On iOS, advertising tracking that relies on the IDFA only occurs if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
3. How we use information
- To show real-time bus arrivals and locate nearby stops
- To remember your favorites and in-app preferences on your device
- To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App
- To display advertising that keeps the App free
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse
4. Advertising and analytics partners
We use third-party advertising and mediation services to serve ads inside the App. These partners may act as independent controllers of the data they collect and may use it to deliver, personalize, cap, and measure advertising. Partners we may work with include:
- AppLovin — Privacy Policy
- Google AdMob / Google — Privacy Policy
These partners may collect or receive a device advertising identifier, IP address, and ad-interaction data. We encourage you to review their policies to understand how they handle your information. The list of partners may change over time as we update our advertising setup.
Your ad choices. You can limit ad personalization at the device level: on iOS, manage permissions under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising; on Android, use Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalized ads.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described in this policy: with advertising and analytics providers that support the App, with service providers acting on our behalf, and where required by law or to protect rights and safety. We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.
6. Data retention
Preferences such as favorites are stored locally on your device and removed when you delete the App. Diagnostic and advertising data are retained by our service providers according to their own retention policies and applicable law.
7. Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing, including under the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California). To exercise any of these rights, email us at transitway.com@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
9. International users
The App is operated from outside the United States, and information may be processed in countries other than your own. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection rules than where you live.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information, and data exchanged with our services is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated within the App. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at transitway.com@gmail.com.
